WILLIAM GEORGE TOPE

    William George Tope, son of George William Tope and Elizabeth Donaldson, was born 6 July 1841 in Carroll Co., Ohio [notes 1 & 2], and died 13 January 1918 [note 3] in Walnut, Gallia Co., Ohio.  He married Julia E. Morgan on 17 August 1868 in Gallia Co., Ohio [note 4].  She was born 6 August 1850, and died 31 August 1885 in Gallia Co., Ohio.  He later married Mary Mollie Eachus on 19 April 1887 in Patriot, Gallia Co., Ohio [note 5].  She was born 14 May 1864 in Gallia Co., Ohio, and died 14 February 1942 in Green, Gallia Co., Ohio [note 6 ].
    William served in the Civil War in the1st Ohio Heavy Artillery, Co. G. under Lieutenant Frances Walters.
        
William and Julia had six children:
  1. Ebert Curtis Tope was born 7 November 1870, Walnut Gallia Co., Ohio, and died 4 March 1937.   He married Effie J. Shoemaker, who was born in 1877 and died in1927. with whom he had ten children [note 7]:

    1. Anna E. Tope was born in 1904 . She married Earl B. Sayers, who was born in 1897.
    2. Florence C. Tope was born in 1905.  She married Ralph C. Henderson.
    3. Martha H. Tope married Joseph S. Henderson, who was born in 1906.
    4. Paul C. Tope married Gertrude Hartzell, who was born in 1914.
    5. Arthur R. Tope married Stella E. English, who was born in 1908.
    6. Mary E. Tope was born in 1913.  She married Lloyd S. Cusick, who was born in 1915.
    7. Esther G. Tope was born in 1916 and died in1918.
    8. Dorothy M. Tope married Robert D. Fife, who was born in 1918.
    9. Virginia M. Tope was born and died in1921.
    10. Marjorie L. Tope
  2. Bertha Annette Tope was born 29 December 1872, Walnut Gallia Co., Ohio. She married Ulysses Simpson Minor (Miner), son of Absalom Miner and Susanna Daniels [note 8].
    Bertha and Ulysses had five children :
    1. Flora Grace Minor was born in 1894 and  married Roy Floyd Bostic.
    2. Victor Lee Minor was born in 1896.
    3. Ethel May Minor was born in 1898 and married Larry W. Bell.
    4. Leonard Homer Minor was born 30 October 1902 and died 15 August 1975 in Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio [note 9].  He  married Bernice Marsh.
  3. Hattie Tope was born 1 April 1876, Walnut Gallia Co., Ohio.  Hattie married Arthur Bruney on 15 June 1905. Arthur was born 7 June 1880.  They had one child that died in infancy [note 10].
  4. Albert E Tope.
  5. Nelson Tope was born 17 November 1881, Walnut Gallia Co., Ohio, and died 6 June 1906. was born in 1881 and died in 1947. Nelson married Sylvia Brown born in 1883.
    Nelson and Sylvia had three children:
    1. Margaret Tope was born in 1907.
    2. Frank Tope was born in 1909 and died in 1924 [note 11].
    3. Bessie Tope married Warren Brewer.
  6. Lucy Tope was born 25 August 1885, Walnut Gallia Co., Ohio, and died 21 September 1885 in Walnut, Gallia Co., Ohio.
William and Mary had two children:
  1. Lillian Gladys Tope was born 28 January 1888 in Walnut, Gallia Co., Ohio.  She married Emmet McCall, who was born in 1889 and died in 1952 [note 12].
    2. Lillian and Emmet had three children:
    1. Cleo McCall was born in 1909.  He first maried Susie Vance and later married Hilah Nell Boster.
    2. Loren McCall married Virginia Thomas.
    3. Audrey Gayle McCall was born in1920 and married Farrell Johnson.
  2. Claude Oswald Tope was born 9 September 1889 in Walnut, Gallia Co., Ohio.
  3. Walton Stanley Tope was born 23 August 1890, Walnut, Gallia Co., Ohio, and died 24 February 1963 in London, Madison Co., Ohio [note 13].  He married Bessie Mae Hixon, 16 April 1919, Springfield, Clark Co., Ohio [note 14].
