     Melville Freeman TOPE was born on 13 April 1856 in Allen Co., Ohio, and died 25 November 1913 in Van Wert Co., Ohio. He married Ellen Mary WOODS 1 January 1880 in Van Wert Co., Ohio. Ellen was born 11 March 1863 to William WOODS and Elizabeth FOSS, and died 3 November 1922 in Van Wert Co., Ohio. Both are buried in the Wren Cemetery, Wren, Van Wert Co., Ohio.

William and Alverta's children:

  1. Grace Elizabeth TOPE born 29 September 1884 [note 1], died 26 March 1954, buried 29 March 1954.
    "Mrs. Grace Elizabeth Giessler, 69, lifetime resident of Willshire Township, died at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Parkview Hospital at Fort Wayne, Ind. She had been in failing health for seven months [note 2]." She married Lawrence Samuel McMICHAEL on 1 January 1900 in Wren, Van Wert Co., Ohio. Lawrence was born in 1880, and died 12 October 1922. Both are buried in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert Co., Ohio [note 3]. "Lawrence McMichael, 42, farmer residing in Harrison Township, near the state line, north of this town, died at the Van Wert hospital last Thursday afternoon, following an illness of four weeks from typhoid fever. [note 4]"
  2. Earnest J. TOPE born 08 March 1891 [note 5] married Lillian ROBINSON on 3 May 1917 [note 6]. Lillian was born 21 February 1898 in Adams Co, Indiana to Isaac ROBINSON and Sarah VENISS/VENICE. Both are buried in the Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, Advams Co., Indiana.
