JOSEPH TOPE

    Joseph Tope, son of George Tope and Maria Elizabeth Bower,  was born 16 October 1817 [note 1], and died 4 April 1884 in Perry Twp., Carroll Co., Ohio [note 2].  He married Hettie Green on 15 October 1840 in Carroll Co., Ohio [note 3].  She was born 23 March 1821 in Carroll Co., Ohio [note 4], and died 14 August 1892 in Palermo, Carroll Co., Ohio [note 5]. Joseph and Hettie are buried in the Palermo Cemetery, Perry Twp., Carroll Co., Ohio.
    Children of Joseph and Hettie are:

1. Samantha Jane Tope was born 9 November 1832 in Carroll Co., Ohio, and died  3 April 1868 in Perry Twp., Carroll Co., Ohio [note 6].

3. George M. Tope
4. Clarissa Tope was born 30 September 1856 in Carrollton, Carroll Co., Ohio and died  in 1928.  [note 7].
5. Ezra E. Tope as born in 1852 in Carrollton, Carroll Co., Ohio, and died 17 August 1913 in Scioto Co., Ohio [note 8].  He married Emma Whittaker on 21 October 1875 in Harrison Co., Ohio.
6. Lydia M. Tope was born in  30 September 1856, Carrollton, Carroll Co., Ohio and died in 1928, Algonquin Co., Ohio [note 9].  She married William Rutledge.
7. Mary Emma Tope
8. Joseph Bascom Tope was born18 May 1859, Palermo, Carroll Co., Ohio and died 1 June 1900 in Carrollton, Carroll Co., Ohio [note 10].  He married Mary Belle Brower, daughter of John Brower,  who was born about 1862 in Carrollton, Carroll Co., Ohio, and died 28 August 1928 in Palermo, Carroll Co., Ohio [note 11].
