JACOB J. TOPE

    Jacob J. Tope, son of George Tope and Elizabeth Everhart,   was born around 1802 and died in Old Town valley, near New Philadelphia, 0hio, in 1861, aged 41 years [note 1].  He married Mary Jane Brown on 3 August 1843 in Harrison County, Ohio [note 2]
  Jacob and Mary Jane had four children:
  1. John W. Tope was born at New Philadelphia November 8 in 1845.  He was married to a Miss Whaple, studied medicine with Dr. J. D. Otis (now deceased), of New Philadelphia, 0., graduated from Rush Medical College, Chicago, in 1870, and is practicing medicine at Oak Park in Ill.
  2. George W. Tope was born near New Philadelphia, married a Margaret Romig on 20 November 1873 in Tuscarawas County, Ohio [note 3].
    George and Margaret had three children:
    1. Wm. H. Tope married Marie E. McKinney, of Scio, 0hio.
    2. Walter Ross.
    3. Laura Grace.
    George was a farmer and a stock-dealer, living about four miles west of New Philadelphia, 0hio.
  3. William A. Tope was born at New Philadelphia, Ohio on July 12, 1860.  He married Fannie Weatherby, of Port Washington, 0hio on May 25, 1887.  He studied medicine with Dr. Otis, graduated from Rush Medical College, Chicago, and practiced medicine at Downer's Grove, Illinois He also was vice president of the Farmers' and Merchants' Bank at Downer's Grove.
  4. Mary  Tope married John W. Heaston on 5 September 1878 in Tuscarawas county, Ohio [note 4].   John was a farmer They live near New Philadelphia, 0hio.
