TOPE FAMILY PAGE

   Jacob Tope, son of George Tope and Catherine Straddler ,  was born February 10, 1801 in Jefferson county, 0hio and died  6 January1877.  He married Catherine Kail, daughter of George Kail and Mary Capper. Catherine was born 20 December 1806 and died 27 February 1889. Jacob and Catherine are buried in the St. Luke Cemetery, Carroll Co., Ohio.
    Jacob was a twin to Stephen Tope and  his wife, Catherine, was a twin to Stephen's wife, Jemima Kail.

Jacob and Catherine had nine children:

1. Lavina Tope died at an early age, unmarried.
2. Hiram James Tope was born December 24, 1825.  He married Nancy A. McHugh on 3 September 1857, at New Hagerstown, 0hio.  Nancy was born born 27 June 1830.  They had two children:
   


1. John C. Tope was born 19 February 1858; married March 13, 1886, to Elda Dunlap and had four children:
   
   1. Thomas Earl Tope, born 2 May1887.
   2. Sherley Tope, born 17 March 1889.
   3. Alton Tope, born 23 July 1891 and died 23 Feb 1894.
   4. May Tope, born 23 May 1895 and died in March 1896. 
2. David R. Tope, born May 1859 and married Chloe Ball on 12 November 1893.
3. Ann Tope.
4. Jackson Tope died young. 
5. George Tope died young.
6. Gabriel Tope married Elizabeth McHugh on 4 September 1856 in Carroll Co., Ohio [note 3].  Their had four children:
   
   1. Daughter, died young, 
   2. Homer W.Tope.  He married Alice Moughiman and they have one son, Richard.  
   3. Beldon Tope married to Daisy Crawford.
   4. Thomas V. Tope was born about 1867, and married to Hattie V.  Rainsberger.  Hattie was born about 1874 [note 4] and died 11 July 1966 in Carroll County, Ohio [note 5].
7. Thomas J. Tope not married.
8. William M. Tope married Rose A. Garrett on 2 November 1871 in Carroll Co., Ohio [note 6].  They have three children:
   
   1. OllieTope married to Walter Brooks
   2. Ross Tope unmarried.
   3. Thomas Tope unmarried.
